Geez, its been over three months since I last blogged. I really must do it more often. I have been busy designing a quilt pattern and my Ombre Flying Geese pattern is finally finished.
Late last year, my husband asked me to make him a boys cot quilt for a lady at his work who was pregnant. I went through my stash and I found a stack of half square triangles in blue and white made with V and Co ombre fabric. I dug these out and put them on my design way to work out a way to put them together. Firstly, I had the diamonds across the middle in a row, but I didn’t like that, it seemed to systematically.
So, I decided to put them on an angle, which felt a lot more modern.
I added a small border and then quilted it in white thread with a chevron pattern.
The lady at hubbies work was very happy to receive this quilt.
Then I decide to make myself a queen sized version. I had a few bolts of various greys through to white and a black. I just doubled all the measurements from the cot sized quilt.
I love how it turned out. Then a friend asked me if I had a pattern for it because she wanted to make a cot quilt for a friend. I was thinking of writing a pattern so this pushed me to write one. I had some help along with way with writing this pattern and quilting it.
The pattern is available in my Etsy shop or on Craftsy.
Keep on sewing
